Week Beginning 12th October

This week we had Kew Gardens week in school. We have been learning about Charles Darwin, germination and lots of other things. P6 were 'Darwin's Investigators' so we had to plant our own seeds to see if they would germinate. We also visited the Botanic Gardens on Thursday to learn a bit more for our rainforest topic. We were given a challenge to do in the gardens then we were taken round the glasshouses by Anna who told us lots of interesting information about the rainforest. We even got to taste chocolate, pineapple and papaya which comes from the rainforests. We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Chalmers, Mrs Allerdice, Mrs Waddell and Mrs McOwat for coming along to help us. We had a great time!

Have a great October holiday!

Week Beginning 5th October

This week was book week. The book we learned was called 'The Seal Skull'. It was a very interesting book. We wrote a diary entry for the missing days at the beginning and end of the story. We also made covers and bookmarks for the story. We used our ICT skills to type up our synopsis. In drama we acted out a scene from the story. We had a great time.

Week Beginning 28th September

This week we have been learning more about the rainforest. We have researched deforestation and thought about the pros and cons. We have been writing our findings up and discussing ways of dealing with this problem with our class. We have also been problem solving in groups where we are working round different stations to solve different types of problems. We are looking forward to Book Week and the Book Fair next week.

Week beginning 15th September

This week we did lots of different things about Roald Dahl. We desinged sweetie wrappers which will be outside Mrs Byrons office for parents evening and book week. We worked with a partner to create a tv ad which we recorded and performed in front of the class. Neil and Shaz's was very exciting and made us want to buy 'dragon dangers'. We done a storyboard on the witching hour from the witches. We also done a golden ticket hunt where we had to use clues to find the tickets. There were 5 winners of the tickets Jordyn, Dion, Arran, Marc and William all were the lucky winners of the Roald Dahl books. Overall we had the best week in school so far!!!
